New Vehicle Warranties

You’re the proud owner of a Volkswagen, a German engineered vehicle that was born to drive and built to last. Volkswagen is very confident in the performance and durability of their vehicles and thus is pleased to offer some of the best warranties in the industry.

Basic Limited Warranty: 4-year/80,000 km (whichever occurs first)

Covers the entirety of the vehicle, but excludes wear and tear items, and adjustments after the initial 12 months or 20,000km.

Paint defects like clear coat peeling, “fish eyes”, and fading is covered under the basic limited warranty.

Powertrain Warranty: 5-year/100,000 km (whichever occurs first)

Your Volkswagen’s powertrain warranty guarantee includes the engine, transmission, front and rear axle assemblies and turbochargers.

Corrosion Perforation Limited Warranty: 12 years/Unlimited km*

Covered by the best corrosion perforation warranty in the industry, your Volkswagen is sure to maintain its pristine appearance.

VW Routan Corrosion Perforation Warranty

The Routan’s outer-body sheet metal panels (painted) are covered for 5-years or 160,000km, whichever occurs first. The Routan does not have a 12-year corrosion warranty.

Coverage

These warranties cover the cost of all parts and labour needed to repair or replace components of your Volkswagen, when determined to be a manufacturer defect. Holes that develop in the sheet metal panels from rust or other corrosion will be covered. If a hole occurs because of something other than corrosion, the warranty does not apply. Cosmetic or surface corrosion – resulting from stone chips or scratches in the paint for example, is not covered.

Paint Defect / Corrosion Perforation Warranty Claiming and Repair Process

1. Client must book an inspection as soon as the paint defect/corrosion perforation concern is noticed. Letting an issue get worse before booking this appointment may cause the claim to be rejected by Volkswagen. This is done through our website under “Parts and Service” and “Submit a Corrosion Inspection Request”.

Please ensure that you read the “Terms and Conditions” on this page!

2. The vehicle must be clean and dry on the day of inspection. Pictures cannot be taken indoors under fluorescent lighting and must be taken outside as per Volkswagen head office mandate. Therefore, if it is raining on the day of your appointment do not come to the dealership. Call us to reschedule your appointment. During the inspection,  paint thickness measurements and numerous pictures will be taken of the affected area(s) for submission to Volkswagen. This inspection could take up to an hour or more depending on how many areas of concern there are.

3. Client may have to book an appointment at Majestic Collision (Volkswagen approved body shop) for the estimates of the repair cost if the body shop cannot properly estimate the repairs by the pictures taken.

4. The inspection report, photos and estimate will be sent to Volkswagen head office for warranty coverage approval.

5. Once the claim has been processed, you will be contacted with the outcome.

6. If the repair has been authorized under warranty, Majestic Collision will be notified and will contact the client to set up an appointment to have the problem addressed. We will also order any approved for replacement parts and ship them to Majestic Collision.

7. If the claim is denied (Volkswagen determines that the issue is in fact not a manufacturer defect – caused by a stone chip, road debris or other outside influences), the Service Manager will pass on the reasoning behind Volkswagen Canada’s decision to the client. The decision made by the Corrosion Claims Specialist at Volkswagen Canada head office is final and binding. There is no appeal process.

8. Clients must drop their vehicle off at Majestic Collision on the day of their appointment. The client must have signed the Warranty Work Order at the dealership.

9. Once the repairs are completed, the client can make arrangements to pick up their vehicle from Majestic Collision.

*Important Notes:

- Paint “blending” is not covered under warranty – while Majestic Collision is very good and will do their best to color match your vehicle there may be a slight color / shade variation due to the age of the paint on your vehicle.

-Non O.E. equipment such as 3M chipguard if so equipped is not covered. It is the customers responsibility to replace it if so desired.

- the corrosion warranty covers body sheet metal panels only – any related items requiring replacement necessitated by the repair due to corrosion, breakage during disassembly due to age or corrosion or as an upgrade are the customers responsibility.

- Service loaners/rental vehicles are not provided for corrosion repairs.

- Volkswagen’s warranty repair authorization is valid for 60 days. The repair must be completed within this time frame.
